This was the Univention Summit 2024

At the Univention Summit in Bremen, software manufacturers, IT service providers and users spent two days discussing trends, challenges and requirements for digital sovereignty with open source.

Keynotes by internationally renowned speakers, panel discussions, best-practice presentations, user reports, workshops and a technology barcamp offered a wealth of exciting content and opportunities for participation for around 700 participants both on site and online. In addition, the exhibition with 35 software manufacturers and IT service providers offered plenty of time for exchange and networking.

WHAT THE SUMMIT PARTICIPANTS SAY

Michael Schulz-Heirich

A valuable and important conference for the ” Who is Who” of the Open Source Community. A real MUST for all champions of digital sovereignty in the public sector.

Markus Michels

Open exchange, relaxed atmosphere, a lot of expertise and enthusiasm around Open Source – that’s what makes the Univention Summit special for us and why it’s the right stage for our video conferencing solution OpenTalk.

Markus Michels, CEO OpenTalk GmbH

Partner EN: OpenTalk

The network I build at the Univention Summit is (almost) as important as the infrastructure network I maintain for the schools in the district. That’s why I’m always happy to travel to Bremen.

Werner Umbach, EDP Service Schools District of Kassel

Landkreis Kassel EN: Werner Umbach
Christoph Maier: Thomas-Krenn.AG

The Univention Summit in wintry Bremen is a fixed part of the annual event calendar of the Thomas-Krenn AG. It is where technical expertise meets the excellent network of Univention partners and customers: A valuable opportunity for us to deepen existing contacts and establish new ones.

Christoph Maier – CEO Thomas-Krenn.AG

Holger Dyroff: owncloud

It was a great pleasure to discuss again the possibilities of file exchange, integration into existing file storages via SAMBA and collaborative editing with medium-sized users and educational institutions. We took home valuable suggestions. As the most frequently installed 3rd party app from the App Center we are also looking forward to the next Summit!

Holger Dyroff, VP Sales & Marketing & Co-Founder ownCloud

Martina Sander: Cornelsen

The use of digital offerings in schools becomes increasingly important for us as a provider of educational media. Teachers and students should be able to use them without hurdles and barriers and in infrastructures that are as open as possible. A prerequisite for this is good interaction between all school IT offerings. The Univention Summit is an excellent place for inspiration and exchange on this topic.

Martina Sander – Cornelsen Verlag

André Müller: Bechtle GmbH

100 % Open. An open and honest exchange between manufacturers and IT service providers from which both sides benefit.

Anja Zeising: ifib

A characteristic feature of the Univention Summit is the open exchange at a high professional level from different perspectives. In a pleasant atmosphere, participants exchange information about very practical or technical, but also planning topics such as media development planning, IT support structures, requirements specification and evaluation. This is how digital transformation can succeed in the educational sector.
