Spread possibilities, not dependencies.

January 28 as Virtual Venue

Digital Sovereignty for companies, the education sector and the state is more relevant than ever and was the focus of the Univention Summit 2021.
Therefore projects such as Phoenix - the development of an Open Source web workplace for public administration - and the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) - the open and federated IT infrastructure of Gaia X - were on the agenda.

The participants of the Univention Summit 2021 also learned all about the new features and technical basis of UCS 5 and UCS@school 5. Further users reported on best practices in the use of UCS and UCS@school. And numerous manufacturers and IT service providers presented their IT services in workshops and in the accompanying exhibition.

Speakers Univention Summit 2021

What the summit participants say

  • I’m really looking forward to the next Univention Summit and the many Open Source colleagues who will be there. You always meet new, interesting people. For me, the Summit is the perfect start into the year.

    Indra Cloet – agorum

  • The Univention Summit is where we meet a wide range of open source vendors and users in a great venue. Our team values the chance to expand on existing or create new relations with partners and customers in a relaxed atmosphere.

    Frank Karlitschek – Nextcloud

  • A characteristic feature of the Univention Summit is the open exchange at a high professional level from different perspectives.
In a pleasant atmosphere, participants exchange information about very practical or technical, but also planning topics such as media development planning, IT support structures, requirements specification and evaluation.
This is how digital transformation can succeed in the educational sector.

Anja Zeising – Institut für Informationsmanagement Bremen GmbH

  • 100% Open. An open and honest exchange between manufacturers and IT service providers from which both sides benefit.

    Andre Müller – Bechtle GmbH

  • The use of digital offerings in schools becomes increasingly important for us as a provider of educational media. Teachers and students should be able to use them without hurdles and barriers and in infrastructures that are as open as possible. A prerequisite for this is good interaction between all school IT offerings. The Univention Summit is an excellent place for inspiration and exchange on this topic.

    Martina Sander – Cornelsen Verlag

  • It was a great pleasure to discuss again the possibilities of file exchange, integration into existing file storages via SAMBA and collaborative editing with medium-sized users and educational institutions. We took home valuable suggestions. As the most frequently installed 3rd party app from the App Center we are also looking forward to the next Summit!

Holger Dyroff, Chief Product Officer, ownCloud

  • Lars Hoeger - Kixxl GmbH

The event is my personal highlight of the year – here partnership is lived and an impressive amount of competence is present and all this in a great atmosphere!

    Lars Hoeger – KiKxxl GmbH

  • The Univention Summit in wintry Bremen is a fixed part of the annual event calendar of the Thomas-Krenn AG. It is where technical expertise meets the excellent network of Univention partners and customers: A valuable opportunity for us to deepen existing contacts and establish new ones.

    Christoph Maier – CEO Thomas-Krenn.AG

  • Erich Rescheneder - A1

The Univention Summit 2020 lived up to the guiding theme “Be Open for Digital Sovereignty”. This is also an important topic for the numerous companies that are thinking about data storage in the cloud that meets their own ideas and rules.

Erich Rescheneder – A1 Telekom Austria
